Ideas? Thoughts? Recommendations?
Thanks, Frank and Houghi, for your ideas, thoughts, and recommendations.
I will go check those out.
Partly what's happened here is that I've invested a fair bit of time
in learning how to do this using several layers in Paint Shop Pro,
each layer with a couple dozen text or graphic objects.
I feel like the general idea of using layers in that way
gives me the flexibility I need to edit origins, dimensions, and colours,
as well as the text strings, except that if I change any of it,
I have to go back and reconstruct hundreds of such images.
I'd like to be able to say "I've got this blue rectangle with a black
border, and I've got a text string that derives from a field in a
database, I'd like to move them both from where they are now
to some other origin, or to change the dimensions of the box,
without having to repaint the whole thing by hand.
I originally tried this in OO.o, but it didn't have very good control
of origins, dimensions, colours, etc, so the resulting images
were very amateurish. Then I switched to PSP, but lost the
"mail-merge"-like ability.
Anyway, I will follow up on your leads. Thanks again.
