Mesh Generation using Media Axis

Hi!
I currently work on the topic of medial axis. One of its applications is the mesh generation. Well, I am a bit stuck.
How can I use the medial axis to generate a mesh? I know that the medial axis transform can be used to represent the object itself but how does this help in mesh generation?
Does anybody know how such a mesh generation works in principle? Or can it explain shortly?
TIA!
Best regards,
