My wife used the following program to change ancient greek text in
beta-code (a code for writing ancient greek with latin alphabet) to
actual ancient gree text.

At work she used Times New Roman (Windows XP, Word probably 2003), but
at home, when she did this for two days, she accidentally used Tahoma
(Windows XP, Word 2003). Now the text that she wrote at home shows as
squares in her computer in her job, even though the computer there has
also Tahoma. How can this situation be corrected? Is it enough to just
change the font to Times at home, where the text shows correctly? She
has Finnish-language Word at home and English-language version at home.
Hi (Terve),
AS long as MS Word is involved anything is possible. ;-)
It seems that encoding is different because both Times New Roman and Tahoma have Greek Extended character set (in Vista) which includes accented characters used in classical Greek.
Is the file saved as word file or in some other format like txt or rtf? If so Word usually asks which encoding should be used and if any the file should be opened using the same encoding. Also if saved for example with ascii encoding which doesn't include extendended character set the characters may just disappear. So the file should be saved using Unicode encoding - as memory serves there are different flavors available.
But if saved as Word file the characters should be visible if the same font, Times New Roman, is used in both computers. (I'm not sure if XP version of Tahoma has the same character set as Vista version.)
