Mark,
Double clicking on the icon of a collection within the Font Collections
folder launches, would you believe, Adobe Bridge!
At this time my "Library/Fonts" folder has nine contained folders, each of
which containis a folder for each font family. These folders were created
using the export option of Font Book. For example, "/Library/Fonts/Adobe
Garamond Pro " contains six font files, one for each of the six variations of
the font, Bold, BoldItalic, etc. My "/System/Library/Fonts" folder contains
just those items placed there via the OS X installation.
Since my last posting in this thread I have done a careful comparison of the
contents of the font folders and the Font Book collections and now all nine
of them agree with Font Book in terms of the member fonts. On the other hand
Typeset still disagrees on two collections, leaving out five fonts in one
collection and adding an additional font in another.
