Re: no joy input/emulation

the dots in the corner of the window work.

i've set joyemulation to: numpad+right control.

however,

the game doesn't respond, except for pause/unpause
on those keys.

i have more than one, but i use winvice 1.21 primarily.

however, i 've got exactly the same problem
with every emu, and every game/rom!

i tried to set the joy to keyset A, and then set
keyset A to:
cursor up,down,left right.
or the numpad keys.

(cursor emu.:
no, i mean: joy emulation)

i use winXP with several c64 emu's.

Which ones?

but i can't move and fire!

Does this happen with all games you tried?

You did not tell if you tried VICE. Recent versions of VICE for WinXP
have joystick status at the bottom. That is, you do not even need to load
a game, you see two sets of 5 dots each. The sets represent respectively
the status of joystick port 1 (left) and 2 (right). If the joystick
emulation works, you press the keys associated to joystick emulation and
the dots change colour (from grey to green for directions, from grey to
red for fire).

i've tried the joy settings etc, but it doesn't work!

What did you try to do? Example: if you are using VICE, and you don't see
dots changing to red/green, you have not tried hard enough.

is a connected joystick absolutely required?

No.

of course, i just want cursor emulation!

What is cursor emulation? Using the PC cursor keys as C64 cursor keys? Or
using PC cursor keys as C64 joystick? Or something else? The first two
can be done with all major emulators (VICE and CCS64 come to the mind),
but not at the same time.
