Hello,
Unfortunately I don't have any hardware specs and don't know of anybody who
has them. I think the Echo uses a Texas Instruments chip though. As for
software, I can provide a link to a disk which has a relatively modern
version of Textalker on it. Unfortunately I don't have any Textalker
manuals, specs or source code, just binaries. The file is
http://www.bluegrasspals.com/disks/talking/egames.dsk
This is a disk of games designed to work with the Echo synthesizer. When
booted in at least an IIe IIc or IIgs with an Echo card or Cricket external
(for the IIc) in it, the disk will come up talking.

Is this a software only system or a card as well? Software only should
be able to function in an emulator since the emulator functions the same
as the real hardware. However, if this is a card, it might be possible
for someone to add this or similar functionality to an emulator such as
Applewin.

Perhaps a compromise where the output is to the Mockingboard or Phasor
sound devices emulated in Applewin could be accomplished.
For any of this to happen much more information is required. Hardware
and software spec's at a minimum. Possibly even a card if this is
hardware based so these guys have something to work with.
HTH,
Cheers,
