Of course, but my bindings are different than the default,

Nobody copies by typing M-x yank-clipboard-selection.
If you want help, it's better to tell us exactly what you did,
what happened, and what you expected to happen.

Ok, here's exactly what I did.

1. Download xemacs 21.4.21 source bundle.

2. Set my environment for Sun Studio 12 compilers

3. My machine is: uname -a

SunOS sr1-usca-58 5.10 Generic_125100-04 sun4v sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-
T200

4. Unpack the source distribution and cd to the top level directory

5. did ./configure --prefix=/home/edburns/pkg/gnu

The configure completed successfully.

6. did make

Make completed successfully

7. did make install

make install completed successfully

8. cd /home/edburns/pkg/gnu/bin

9 ./xemacs -vanilla

10. In the scratch buffer, I selected some text and clicked the
"copy" button.

I notice that the text gets "unselected"

11. I go into a gnome-terminal and do Edit->Paste

I see no text.

Does anyone have any insight on how I can debug this?

By way of establishing street cred with all yall...

My employer just mandated this week that sendmail was no longer
supported for sending mail, and SMTP with TLS
was the way we had to go.

I've been using VM for years so I looked into how to do TLS SMTP
with VM and found that it was supposed to be supported.

Didn't work for me.

I just spent the last three hours hacking around in smtpmail.el,
only to find some bugs in the way starttls is
invoked that completely broke my ability to send mail.

In the process, I had to dust off my list skills, including how to
use edebug.

I fixed the problems and can now send mail with VM using SMTP with
TLS.

I am about to post a diff of smtpmail.el to gnu.emacs.vm.info.

Anyhow, back to my copy problem. I desparately need this to work!
