I thought this problem would be solved by buying a Parallel to Express card
adapter from StarTech which supports EPP/ECP. (which is supposedly not
supported in the Parallel to USB adapters.)
Did everything the same as AishaB. Card drivers installed, XP showed it up
in Device manager. It was assigned LPT1, and I also hooked up a parallel
printer and got a good test print.
However SDConfig does not recognize any device at emu port 378 (which
corresponds to LPT1). Spectrum Digital support said that they did some
testing with several of these cards in the market, and SDConfig only worked
with Quatech SPP100, which is unfortunately Parallel to PCMCIA.
Please mail me if you find something. TIA

Hi All,
I just got a DSP F2812. I am trying to connect it to my laptop just to
setup the DSP using SDConfig. My laptop doesn't have a parallel port,
However, tried using a USB to DB25 cable to connect my DSP to my laptop.

pleaseI have checked that the driver for the USB to DB25 cable is installed
properly, and it also shows up under Device Management. Can anyone
properlyprovide some help on how to resolve this issue. The DSP connects
if I try it with my desktop, which has a parallel port.
Thanks a lot, any help/tips will be really appreciated!
There was a debate about parallel port on laptops a year or two ago.
Someone mentioned that the only way to get legacy LPT on laptop is
through PCMCIA LPT card from specific manufacturer.

The other way is to buy USB XDS510 emulator
Good luck
