Re: Spectral Analysis & Resynthesis of Audio Signals.. Anyone else into this? Applications/Tools that reliably produce good results?

For you guys who understand the current methods, what is your opinion on
this question:

Are there insurmountable mathematical limitations which will prevent
sufficiently accurate spectral modeling of audio signals such that the
model is audibly indistinguishable from the original?



The idea of producing spectral models of audio signals that are audibly
indistinguishable from the original signals, then studying these spectral
models, sets my heart on fire. I want to be able to do it so badly it
hurts!

I just want to know if the idea of being able to produce spectral models
of audio signals that are audibly indistinguishable from the original
signals is realistic. It would not make sense for me to spend the large
amount of time that would be required to educate myself in this area, only
to hit an insurmountable brick wall.
