If you really have just a 218x simple audio design, We have our DSP-8300.
This is a credit card sized module with an AC-97 audio codec. You
download programs via RS-232 (can use USB adapter). We supply the old GNU
based assembler and linker. The dev kit is $250. DSP-8300 modules are as
low as $125 ea (Qty 100)
We also have SHARC based solutions that include an Analog Devices EZ-Kit
style debugger. These boards are supported by VDSP (uncluding the free
KIT license).
