Hello David,

We are interested in detecting hidden metal on persons (eg. suicide
bombers).

>From what I've been finding on the web about UWB-- all the 'normal methods'
of Radar signature analysis used in narrowband systems will not work for
UWB. I think this is mostly due to have such short wave lengths and
scattering--that the waveform /shape is drastically altered by the
target/environment.

This page:

http://www.uwbgroup.ru/eng/articles/index.htm

and other links on the site, have several books/articles and links to
patents about UWB and signal processing. Ultimately though, they paint such
a bleak picture (ie very complex algorithms) that someone green to signal
processing like myself is quickly overwhelmed. In part because I think the
articles presuppose the reader already understands and has done narrowband
Radar analysis before. So, I think I may need to back up a few steps and try
to find some good info on how narrowband Radar signals are processed. Any
links/pointer in this area would be a big help.

I'm hoping to use MATLAB to help with this effort. So any links to radar
signal processing M files/tutorials would also be of great benefit, if you
know of any.

Thanks,

Bo
