I'm from the U.K. The trouble with Americans is that they think they
invented democracy! Remember we gave it to you. I am not going to argue
that the US was paramount in getting rid of the Nazis - though that had
to be done otherwise you would have been next in line. I am not so sure
about anything else. Britain (and France) has its own nuclear deterrent
and is capable of defending itself. NATO is a collaborative venture
though the US does play the major role of course. I think the trouble
is that all the good work that the US have done is now being undone.
Maybe you don't see that as you are too close to things. I find it
saddening and I am sure a great many of your countrymen do too. I think
you have gone one step too far and the knee-jerk reaction after 911 was
just overdoing it. Far from making things better and defending our
freedom your country has made the world a far worse place to live. Now
you could argue that 911 merited such a response and I would half agree
with you but I think it was handled wrong. Having en evangelical
Christian President does not help matters when you are fighting Islamic
terrorists. They see it as a holy war against them - and they are
probably right. They claim they get their messages from God and so does
Bush! The two extremes appear to need one another and we innocents are
stuck in the middle. If Bush wants to wage war let him lead his men on
the battlefield.
