Re: content management comparison

The CMS Matrix should not be used to shop for content management
systems. The data is incomplete, outdated, and supplied by anyone who
wants to supply it (customers, competitors, people who just don't know
what they're talking about, and those who do). As such, there's no way
to determine what's valuable or accurate.

The reason the CMS Matrix lacks data about many vendors. Smart vendors
do not want to be included as they understand the difficulties of
comparing systems and the fact theat there is not yet a common
vocabulary for coparing systems side-by-side.

This may someday be a non-issue as Content Management Professionals
(www.cmpros.org) is working on CMSML, a markup language that will allow
us to compare the over 1500 content management systems in ways that are
indeed meaningful. Even the advent of CMSML will not gurantee
comparison tools accuracy nor will they encourage all vendors to
participate, but it will give us a common vocabulary to describe CMS
tools and allow us to programaticaly compare them.
