It looks promising. I have not tried that.
Other way to do conversion could be to take a telephone
that has a removable cord between the handset and base unit.
Then make a small adapter from headset connector to
headset. Somethign like what is done at
http://www.mml.uni-hannover.de/einhorn/headset/index_e.html
Note: There are differences in the implementations
of handset interface from base unit to handset in different
telephones.
