We can power up the card using the rig and talk to the DTE (usingHave you been able to use the "control" port with a "dial" modem, using
hayes commands) port fine if the modem is in dial mode. But if the
card has been previously in leased line mode then we can't talk to it
over the DTE port. If we plug in a VT terminal to the control port
and type
Connect 1,1
All that happens is that i echos back and no further dialogue. Our
engineers need to "talk" to the control port to be able to default the
card... any ideas?

the VT "connect 1,1" etc ?? IOW, has control port (vs DTE port) access
via your "rig" ever worked ??
If it does, then I have no clue why LL mode fails.
If it does not work for dial either, then I suspect the "rig's" control
port is missing something.

We are just connecting a VT directly to the control port on the card.
Does the ALM1623 only have one control port on it, though which you
can connect to any modem? or does the chassis have 1 control port for
every modem installed?
From the 3239CS manual,
"connect the VT terminal's serial port to the control port of any 3239CS
installed in the card cage. This single connection allows the terminal
to control any 3239CS in up to 16 daisy-chained card cages. Set terminal
for 9600 8N1."
The cage's 3239CS backplane support 8 cards. 2 per cage
Sorry I do not have a ALM1623 Cage manual. It would appear there may be
some circuitry on the backplanes that directs control port communication
to a slot as necessary, or tells each card, by slot, what address to
respond to. It was somewhat common in Racal product cage/nests to have
backplanes that were more than just "wires".
Do you have any cages and BPs now to look at ??

Still been unable to find a chassis and or backplanes.. :-( So we are
experimenting to see if we can default a card back so it thinks its in
Slot 1 of chassis 1.
Also do you have any experinence with Timeplex? I'm trying to find
some Craft Person Station software to control a Timeplex ST1000 unit.
Have you ever come across this before?
