Establish Internet Connection with Hayes Command

Firstable sorry for my english,
I've got a problem for one week.
I try to establish an internet connection with my modem with AT
Command.
My aim is to do that on a pocket PC (windows CE 5.0) but the moment I
try to do it with Windows XP and the hyperterminal.
I connect a 56K modem to my PC, and I send Hayes command to it in order
to create an internet connection.
First I send
ATD +phone number
I receive login:, so I send my login
then I receive password: so I send it
And then I receive many strange characters during one minute and after
'NO CARRIER'
I don't understand what these characters mean...
If you have any idea, I get them.
I don't know what to do more .....
Thank you.

Celine
