Hey, I GOT CONNECTED FINALLY!!!
I did three things;
Firt I got a new modem, Diamond with DSP onboard, v92
Next I moved the computer to a new hopuse with a different
phone line.
Then I entered an init string for a v92 modem as instructed.
Things are working now, but we will have to see what happens when the
system is returned to its home place
Why did the software install place the proper inot string in the
modem? Is this a plug and play issue or what?
software driver install works for some reason; it's not a PnP issue.
