I should probably call them, and get an update on the proper procedure
before making a scene! It used to be, you would just walk up to the luggage
check-in counter, and tell them. It had to be unloaded of course, and in a
locked box. You would show it to them, they would check your registration,
and that was it. I know it's still legal to do so, but they may handle
things differently these days.
