Most older routers don't have auto-sensing ports that will automatically
switch to a crossover type of port from a standard. I had a similar issue
when connecting a Cat 5e drop to a Cisco Catalyst 1900 switch; turned out
the ports weren't auto-sensing so I had to reterminiate the end to 568A to
make it crossover. Our center uses 568B as the standard since it's an older
facility that hasn't went to the 568A standard.
