I've got what I believe are old DBase/Foxpro files (DBFs, plus CDX and FPT files) that I want to extract the data from. I have MS Access 2000, but it complains about "index not found" if I try to directly open the DBF files.
Here's some tips on hacking a DBF file so it doesn't require an index file:

Can anyone suggest the best way to extract the data? In this case, it's really a one-time task I'm just experimenting with, so it's not worth buying some expensive solution.
There are several DBF converter and reader applications at www.sourceforge.net. Just search for "DBF" or "xbase".
