02 December 2007: Recent updates at www.sypron.nl
-------------------------------------------------
This month's quiz question is about a common
misunderstanding around the 'truncate table' statement:

In response to questions I get asked frequently, about
what it takes to become a DBA, I've created a new page with
some answers as well as some suggestions to get started
with ASE if you've never used it before:
http://www.sypron.nl/dba.html
If you're a DBA or developer for ASE or Replication Server,
check out my books -- you'll probably find them useful.
To see the table of contents, or order a copy, follow the links below:
- The 4th edition of the well-known 'purple book' "The Complete
Sybase ASE Quick Reference Guide" is updated for ASE 12.5.4
and 15.0.1:
http://www.sypron.nl/qr
- The 2nd edition of "Tips, Tricks & Recipes for Sybase ASE" has
been updated for ASE 15.0 and is pretty much the only place
that I'm aware of that describes some of the deeper aspects
of ASE 15.0's query processing. Other than that, this edition
is fully updated and has 80 pages of additional material compared
with the first edition:
http://www.sypron.nl/ttr
- "The Complete Sybase Replication Server Quick Reference Guide"
(also known as the 'green book'): this book is currently sold out.
I'm working on an updated second edition but I cannot yet say when
this will be ready. But it *will*. Watch this space.
