Hi,
Is there a simple way of upgrading a 12.5.0.3 SQL server to 12.5.3? All
I can find are ways to make a brand new binary installation and migrate
to that
one.
In contrast, due to come contraints at our site, we would benefit from
upgrading our
current installation of 12.5.0.3, especially if we could script it with
some measurable probability of success :-)
It's almost not an upgrade:
Shut down your data servers, save your interfaces, server.cfg and
RUN_xxx files somewhere, move the 12.5.0.3 code tree out of the way,
install the 12.5.3 code tree, put the interfaces, server.cfg and RUN_xxx
files back, and start the db servers.
To complete the upgrade run the installmaster and instmsgs.ebf scripts
(and maybe a few others, depending on your setup - see the README that
comes with the EBF).
So everything in 12.5.2 is also in a 12.5.3 ESD?
Yes, because 12.5.3 ESD xyz is an EBF on top of 12.5.2 IR.
So the full install sequence is to get the 12.5.2 IR release (from
sybase.subscribenet.com), install it, get the 12.5.3 EBF that you want to
use, install it on top of the 12.5.2 installation, and then restart the db
servers.
