[ot] Passwords

I have often wondered who passwords are supposed to keep out. Recently we
had to recover a couple of MYOB accounts where the users had left some time
before and the accountant supplied a utility recommended by the tax
department. Blew my mind at the time as EXXON had demanded that we provide
multi-level passwords changed every 30 days for SOX compliance.
Anyway I forgot and mislaid the password for the ADSL link. Check Telstra
website for forgotten passwords, fill in request for email reminder, get
message ring this 13 number. Battle through the worst voice operated
selection ever, we don't just have a menu we have an entire speech about
each option. Where do I end up, with some mumbling ninny in Mumbai that I
can hardly hear, who after demanding account numbers, full name etc; when I
finally get to ask my question blithely says we don't keep a record of
passwords.
A google and a request to Mailwasher both produced the same answer, an
incredible site of free utilities http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/mailpv.html I
do not understand the reasoning behind freeware but by golly his 51k
download ripped them out in a split second, Everything from sorting out
dotNet DLLs through IP sniffing to capturing web pages as JPEGs.
