Hi Tony.....
I did have a chuckle as you promptly gave an example centred on stack
manipulation, %1 %2 .... is exactly that. of course I am sure that you
will have some other name for it and attempt to refute my statement.
Peter, you know ita with you mostly, however, this is not correct. %1 %2 etc
are exact equivalents of <1> <2> (fields in delimited string); a true stack
is not delimited and typically should not be addressable other than with
pop/push (top element modification).
Afa RPL (the language) is concerned, it is "compiled" in the same way that
BASIC is (to P-code) and not interpreted like PQ/PQN. It also has equates,
"normal" syntax and arithmetic operators( F;%1;%2;* can be coded as
..VALUE=.PRICE * .QTY (imsr)) so is a reasonable language to use IF there's
continued support for it, and I believe SMI (or successor corp) has a large
vested interest (and, unfortunately a litigious temperament) in keeping up
with it.

As for using it in modern development please excuse my spilling my tea as I
laugh my socks off. I can see that they have an excellent package with
thousands of man hours invested, of course they are going to delay the
inevitable as long as possible, heck I hung on to my belief in the Micromax
until they pulled the rug from under me - excellent machine just couldn't
make the sales in competition with the juggernauts of the IBM PC era.
