Re: ssh

Hi Peter -

As far as I know no one has ssh (server) for Windows built in. I think
IBM has "secure telnet" for wIntegrate for secure logins to Windows
versions of U2. There are some 3rd party ssh servers for Windows. I
had tried OpenSSH for Windows in the past with limited success.

One idea I have been playing with is to run a Linux virtual machine in
Windows and run the ssh server in the Linux virtual machine. The
virtual machine gets its own IP address and acts just like a separate
Linux box. You can connect to the Linux virtual machine using ssh,
then telnet from it to your normal U2 (d3, mvbase, QM, etc.) telnet
server. The telnet command can be included in the .profile script to
make the login process as transparent as possible. I did a couple of
experiments several months ago and it looks like it will work, but I'm
not comfortable with how to make it into a turnkey "virtual appliance"
with simple configuration.

Thanks,
