Good morning:
When you refer to "Task Manager shows CPU at 100% for D3VME", are you
stating that the PERFORMANCE window of Task Manager is at 100% on the
server running D3, or are you referring to "D3VME.EXE" on the PROCESS
window? We have a server (RFSERVER) which controls all of our RF
connectivity (ODBC apps) to our D3 server (D3-PROD). RFSERVER often
times shows 100% utilization for "applications" that get disconnected
from access points, and those disconnected "applications" must be
ended, via task manager APPLICATION window, to free up system
resources. When this happens, RFSERVER will show 100% CPU on its
PERFORMANCE window, but D3-PROD server is not affected. Does your
APPLICATION window show any apps in a status other than "running"?
Also, remember that with D3 7.5.3 NT, ODBC starts up with VME rather
than as a separate service, as with prior releases. We used to be
able to stop/restart the ODBC service without affecting the VME.
And, finally, is licensing an issue? When activating 7.5.3, we now
have a slew of activation codes that may have to be entered; on my
development system, I have seven (7) different lines for activation
information. One of those lines refers to "active licenses" for ODBC
connections. As I understand, any one user can have one telnet
session and up to two ODBC/RPC connections, consuming only one D3
license. Perhaps your problem stems from a particular user who has
more than two (2) VB apps open, while also using a telnet session.
Have you looked at that possibility?
Good luck on getting a solution.
