Mark (sounds like I'm talking to myself),
Once communications has been established between the two machines you can:
A) Add a record into the DM,HOSTS, file that defines the other machine as a
"remote host"
2) Use Network-Setup to name the machines and start background servers
3) Create super q-pointers like:
Q
host:account
filename
And then use the remote file as if it were local. COMPARE, COPY, SORT,
LIST, ED, UP all work fairly well. There may be some limitations with very
large files, but that's mostly bandwidth.
Once the host has been established, you can even use syntax such as
LIST host:account,filename,
Without the qpointer

We have two offices that are 300+ miles distance connected with a full
time
tunnel. On different private class C networks behind routers. Both using
D3/NT but older releases like 7.4.1
Can anyone give me any practical uses for setting up a D3 network? What
does the network allow me to do?
It is probably not really useful because the two offices are in different
companies although related... They have been running completely
independent
for all these years. There really isn't connection between the two. But, I
do store backups of each on the other system. What can really be done with
two hosts in a D3 network? Can you give me some examples of useful tasks?
Thanks
Mark
