Re: DesignBAIS/Dave Bryant

Rick,

You should run for president! you have the perfect political answer to any
question!

The only other qualification you seem to need is to know nothing about the
world outside of the US but desire to change it for the "better". <only
a slight grin at this point>

Strike - this wasn't extracted from a manual, but if the manual
explains this facility and how/when to use it, that's good.

However, I also understand that developers may have to make manual
changes to REAL CSS to achieve some results - more than happy to be
corrected, as my information is second hand.

True, but these are extremely rare and most are corrected in the 4.1
release.

My (mis)perception is that you may not HAVE to do/learn this sort of
stuff, but people that are doing non-trivial development do tend to
dive into this "low level" stuff. Don't get me wrong, I think it is
actually a GOOD THING that people have at least a passing understanding
of the the technologies they are using - and that they CAN do this sort
of thing.

I agree and if they want to use it they can. Like Symeon said, this is
a very, very small part of the system. The Style Definitions/Groups
handle this by default and can be changed by the user via user
interface at any time.

I think I will take one of your lines, If you don't want to use that
feature then
you don't have to.

Do you also find, as we do, that if these features ARE available,
people WILL use them

Some do, but most don't as the Style Groups handle most of the CSS
defaults. So, the answer is yes and no. See I can avoid the question
:).

[Hmm - a trap? Answer = "Y", destroys TG argument. Answer = "N", why
document in the manual? ... Sorry, couldn't resist - takes me back MANY
(many, many) years to debating @ school]
