Take a look at Ghostscript's ps2ascii utility. It should convert
unprotected PDFs to ASCII for you. You'll have to parse the data and extract
what you need. The output format isn't perfect, though, so you may have to
do some manual data tweaking if you want to import tables of data.

Groovy guys and gals,
I am working with one of my customers on an electronic transfer of data
from
one of their customers. Unfortunately, their customer can only supply the
documents in a PDF format. We are using D3/Linux. Please share with me any
experiences and suggestions you may have on how to get the data we need
out
of a PDF. We are open to paying consulting fees as need be.
