Re: compilers

Bruce

That's a very "pickie" attitude I'm afraid.

I know that Martin is very good with turning around software and support is
good, but it's just as much in his interest to Advertise the features of
OpenQM to non-QM users.

Take for example the recent post on Reality 12. That tells me an awful lot
of what is included in the latest and greatest version of Reality, without
me having to ask, or try it out. Perhaps Martin should seek to do the same.

Whilst I currently use jBASE, it's always nice to be able to know what
features are available in other products, without having to continuously
look or ask. This is a great forum for advertising stuff like that.

I have asked Martin some of the questions, but as a non-OpenQM user, I don't
want to blitz him.

Simon, there's only one answer to this.

Ask.

If you have already, then please accept my apologies, but if you
haven't, then put the questions directly to Ladybridge. I'll warrant
you'll get an answer... even if it's the start of a debate over the
merit of your question and/or proposal. Been there, done that....

If at first it doesn't suck, seed...

I quite like Martin's approach to a one-on-one dialogue. It saves a
great deal on the off-topicness of public debate.....

I've not searched extensively on OpenQM.... The other thread on OpenQM
seems
to be saying that it is the future because it is cheap and has an open
source version. These are both good things, but I want to know more about
feature functionality.... What's so great about it beyond these two
things?

The first and most important is that you can ask the factory to
implement your requirements and it happens (I've found "quickly"),
provided there's a justification. If it's considered there's no
justification, there's always the open source...... But, I think
you'll find Martin approachable.......

You have but to ask.... Up until a short time ago, Martin was flat
chat getting all the "vanilla Pick" requests / requirements out of the
way - there seemed to be a flurry of activity for D3 conversions - as
well as mine (I *am* treated as if I'm the only one making requests),
and AFAIK, there's now a "wait for it - something new" looming over
the horizon..... Wonder what that'll be.....

Secondly, "support". Never seen anything like it.... Absolutely
fantastic. Here in Oz we get overnight service, except in northern
hemisphere summer when it's possible to get instant response late in
the afternoon as Martin's walking in the door in the morning.....

Us "commercial" users aren't suffering with the amount of work and
time that Martin's devoting to the "absolutely no support" open source
side of the fence, either........

But, first and foremost, ASK
