Re: GPVs - ALL DAY, EVERY DAY- why?

Yeah, IMO, if NetWare and Linux both need oplocks turned off, regardless of workstation OS, I have a hard time believing Windows Server does or doesn't based on workstation OS - maybe for MS products designed or patched to cooperate, but not for Paradox...

Just my opinion...

To reduce the possibility of database corruption, Microsoft recommends disabling
opportunistic file locking in networks that have any workstations with Windows
98 Second Edition, Windows ME, or Windows 2000 Professional with Service
Pack 1 or Service Pack 2.
You do not need to disable opportunistic file locking if all of the workstations
in your network have Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 3 or higher
or Windows XP Professional.

I don't believe that. Anybody else ever heard such a thing? Oplocks doesn't impact XP?

I've never heard that either, but it's been a while since I've had to worry about it. Switching to a Linux file server solved all these issues for us, you can disable oplocks by file extension or directories.
