Hello,
I'm VERY new to Paradox.
I've been hired on to maintain a PDX system among a lot of other
generic IT duties.
Here come the dumb questions:
1) Is Paradox version 11 the latest?
I believe yes that 11 is the one included with last Corel package
2) ODBC drivers for Paradox files. Is version 9 the latest?
ODBC drivers for Paradox files are not Corel ones but DataDirect (Intersolv)
They are included AFAIK in Corel Paradox 8,9,10 (but not in their latest version) and not after...
3) Do I have to install the BDE on the server to allow access to the
Paradox data via ODBC?
It depends. Usually you don't need ODBC if you use a BDE client application
(Delphi,Paradox...). But if you want, let say, to import paradox data in a SQL Server via
a DTS package for instance , yes you could install the BDE / ODBC in the server.
Be aware that the licence for the ODBC Intersolv driver included in a Paradox (8,9,10) box
is a standalone workstation license. DataDirect sells Server licence and ... well it's not
the same price :-)
