Re: I can't find a SETUP.EXE in the SQL Plus Client ??

Sorry ... but nonsense. If they can't put you on the phone with the
DBA then something is very wrong. And if you are going to be inside
a database with a tool such as SQL*Plus, rather than through an
application front-end, I don't understand how your apparent skill
set, or lack thereof, squares with any of this.

In short ... mark me still very suspicious that something is wrong
based on the picture you are painting.

Whatever. I was thinking you might understand that many businesses don't have DBAs on staff and contractors cannot always be reached, or businesses don't want to pay contractors for all issues. This is just the reality in the real world, even though you're obviously lucky enough to work for a university that doesn't have the same constraints that small businesses face.

You are correct. Many organizations do not have a DBA on staff. But then
they don't give people SQL*Plus as a front-end either. The two don't
square.

Your friendly stupid hacker who foolishly posts about a really stupid question that wouldn't affect any database security anyway.

There is a substantial body of evidence to the contrary.

(If a database were compromised by someone simply knowing how to install SQL Plus, we'd all have bigger fish to fry than me).

There is a substantial body of evidence to the contrary.
