I have a client who wants to do this. They have a third party
application installed on the network, they wish to install the client
libraries there also.
The third party application gives database related errors when the
oracle_home,path and lib path are changed to a network installation of
the client libraries ie as opposed to a local installation.
I do not think Oracle should care what "drive" the client is installed.
It could have course be a 3rd party issue and not Oracle. I just want a
definate clarification if it is possible.
Has anyone done this successfully, it should work i think !?
There is too much of 'I think' in this post.
If you want 'a definate clarification if it is possible' (why do people
insist in this spelling?) you will have to ask Oracle support.
A newsgroup cannot give you any guarantees.
Why don't you try it instead of asking?
Try with Oracle Instant Client, it consists just of a handful of files
and should be the best choice for such an experiment.

Laurenz,
thank you for your spelling lesson.
If you read my response, I have tried , it did not work. I wanted to
know if anyone had been successful, and why might it not work.
I will try Oracle support also, but I can if I wish post here and might
get a response from someone who has tried and who might be helpful.
Thank you for your suggestion but instant client is no good to me. The
3rd party application requires more , I have tested that.
thank you again for your assistance
.
