Hi group,
A question regarding Oracle 10G:
I understand that when using database links a session is opened at the
remote server which stays alive until the local session is closed or
the database link is closed explicitly.
Does this mean, that I can rely on the fact, that the remote session
will stay the same for as long as my local session lives? For instance
when I set package variables at the remote site do they stay valid
until I close my local session?
Thanks,
Stephan
Not if there is a router/firewall in between them that is using NAT
and times out connections.
Are the 2 servers on the same local area network (or VLAN)?

yes, they're in the same lan.- Hide quoted text -

In the absence of a firewall, NAT, etc... the answer is yes your
remote session will remain the same for your dedicated Oracle
session. If you are using shared server then all bets are off.
