To my knowledge this is not caused by the use of LONG RAW's as it isyou need to have exactly the same environment, because there is many different problems which can arise on an oracle DB which happen only because you have a specific bug in the kernel in a specific oracle release on a specific OS, at a specific patch level ...
fine in my environment and on 9i at the customer site.
Elsewhere you can turn around forever and never be able to reproduce it, as it naturally can't happen in another configuration.
Maybe try to have a test instance on the same server, or at least a test schema in the problematic DB, elsewhere ...
