Oracle 8i upgrade from 8i to 10g

Folks;

I am trying to upgrade both the oracle server and client from 8i to
10g. The server is on a sun box running solaris 9. The client is
running on a redhat 7.2 system. My question is this...

Is the 10g "Power/Linux" client compatible with redhat7.2, and if so,
what ckind of gyrations will I need to go through in order to make it
work.

Any help would be very much appreciated.
