Ok,
I want to hear some horror stories about using the TIMED_STATISTICS parameter in 8.1.5 (unpatched). I've found some interesting nightmares on the web, but I want to get everyone's experiences here.
Please also specify your platform/operating system and *exact* version of the RDBMS.
You can also talk about 8.1.6 and 8.1.7 as well.
I don't have access to metalink, but I can bet there are some interesting stories there.
There are multiple bugs related to turning on timed_statistics and/or sql_trace in 8.1.5. and 8.1.6. Bugs like non-sharable sql, parallel query CTAS and table corruption and various ORA-600 errors have been reported.
Steve Adams mentions couple such bugs here: http://www.ixora.com.au/q+a/library.htm
I guess you probably already know that 8.1.5 was one of the buggiest versions of oracle.
