tell me that changing the IP of servers in our web tier (Solaris) is
nigh on impossible because it requires a complete reinstall of the

to you . . . how laborious and/or disruptive is it to change/add an IP
on an Oracle web server?

If by web tier you mean Oracle Application Server(AS), see below.
for 9iAS an IP# change does require a complete re-installation
for 10iAS I believe it is possible but a royal PITA to succeed.
