The Database engineer is a key member of the operations staff with
responsibility for proper functioning of all components of production
sites focusing on database performance and availability. The DBA has
primary responsibility for all monitoring and site tools as well as
first and second tier resolution of production issues. Additionally the
successful candidate will be well versed in operational processes and
procedures supporting a mission critical 24x7 production environment
and will be able to work quickly under process to execute actions
required to maintain site availability and performance.
Responsibilities
* Monitor database and systems utilization to drive troubleshooting and
tuning
* First and second tier resolution of production issues and alerts
* Understanding of all components of the site infrastructure in order
to analyze impact of alarms and other system messages
* Work with external teams to diagnose complex problems and drive
resolution
* Utilize toolset to diagnose and resolve production issues.
* Take corrective action for operational problems
* Complete tasks required to maintain service levels and availability
of all site features and functions
Requirements
* BS in technical field or equivalent experience
* Minimum six years hands on knowledge of Oracle in a production
environment
* Minimum four years experience working in 24x7 environment
* Experience troubleshooting and tuning Oracle in a production
environment
* Experience with very large production databases (200 GB+)
* Understanding of multi-tier architectures from a conceptual level
* Operational environments with a DBA background is essential for this
job, ideally OCP certification
* Experience with database replication technology, preferably Shareplex
* Proven problem solving skills with an emphasis on quick problem
resolution
* Ability to work on many tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure
environment
* Mid-level Unix system administration skills
* Basic LAN and WAN network knowledge
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
