Or if you think its not the "network" can you please explain why.

I really appreciate your responses.....

Well, the speed of the network is very important. You not 100% clear here if
the performance issue did not exist before when those users outside of the
building hit the back end direct, or in fact the SAME TIME you went to sql
server is the SAME TIME you allowed those "remote" type of users to grab
data?

I would be VERY VERY surprised if those remote users had good performance
before sql server was adopted.

I explain how/why/what you can do to resolve users performance on a wan
here:

http://www.members.shaw.ca/AlbertKallal//Wan/Wans.html

If  you moved some users from you LAN to a WAN, then sql server should be
able to get you decent performance with not a whole lot of changes.

so, are thsoe new users on a wan? Take a read of the above article...it
should help...

Thanks Albert for the response.

To answer your question...
We had "remote" users accessing the Access backend prior to the
upgrade to SQL. The speed was slightly slower then compared to our
"local" users. But now they are much more worse - there is hardly any
comparison.
I will read the article you sent me. But if you have any thoughts in
light of this new info, please dont hesitate to post them.
