I've nailed it. If there is a bitmap file with the same name as the
database in the database folder the problem occurs. In my case, if I
have a .bmp file in the database folder called "OCCActionsReg.bmp"
Access crashes when I try to compact the database or if I try to close
the database by closing the database window. If I rename the bitmap
to something else the problem goes away. The problem does not manifest
if Access itself is closed.
I've tried this with several databases and several different bitmap
files, all with the same result. Can someone else who is running
Vista confirm if they are seeing this?
Hi Wayne,
Just tested with my laptop.
Vista Home Premium - Access 2003
Bmp (appname.bmp) in folder where FE resides. Bmp is flashing indeed.
I can however NOT confirm your findings.
No problem with compact here, No problem when I close the db window.
FYI: I have disabled UAC (sick and tired of these messages)
Maybe that makes a difference ??
