Hi,
I, and some collegues of mine, are running into a weird problem with
Access 2003. If I want to define a new query (or want to add a table
or query to an existing query), Access shows a dialog with three tabs:
Tables, Queries and Both (the exact names may be off, I am using a
Dutch version of Access). From this dialog, you can select the tables
and queries to use in your new query. However, the problem is that
switching the tabs does not seem to have any effect: the list of
database objects just displays all the tables, but no queries.
This is very annoying, as I frequently build queries on existing
queries. The only way to add them to the visual query designer now is
to switch to SQL view, enter some SQL with the query name in it, and
then switch back to the visual designer.
I have tried to search for a solution online, but the problem is that
I can not think of a set of set of search terms that yield anything
usefull. The terms all seem to general to use here unfortunately.
Can anybody here point me in the right direction?
André
Instead of a right direction I'll throw some mud and hope some sticks. You have a strange problem. Maybe there's some corruption in the MsysQueries system table.
Have you compacted the database? If so, does that change anything?
If you create a new database, create a table, create a query, does it show both when creating a new query?
Perhaps create a new blank database and import all objects from your current mdb (also select MoreOptions to get menus and imp/exp specification files). Does that help?
Maybe in the desktop icon add a
/decompile
to the command line and when it opens compact/repair it.
A little dance
