Re: Access 2007

Yeah, I can confirm for some reason if you load SP1, then try to compile and send to an access 2007 runtime user, they will get the unrecognized db format.

Problem is, the 2nd Access 2007 runtime (SP-1 I would assume it will be) is not yet available. So you have a mismatch of an SP1 accdr file, and users using the original release of the runtime (non SP1). Your only option would be to uninstall SP1 from your machine, and then try to re-compile your program. Hopefully you have a backup if uninstalling SP-1 makes your program file unreadable. I have a 2007 runtime app that's been out since October, by the way. I'm waiting until the 2nd 2007 runtime is available prior to loading SP1.

Sorry I dont' have a better answer,

That's beyond bizarre! I went to MS and the Access Runtime page was dated 7/20/07.

At the bottom of that page is a link to download the Office 2007 SP1. It's dated 12/8/2007.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9EC51594-992C-4165-A997-25DA01F388F5&displaylang=en

It does say "Microsoft® Office Access® 2007" as one of the applications it updates on that page. Although it doesn't mention Access 2007 Runtime specifically, I wouldn't think it would/should.

I also would think, if it updates Access 2007 full version correctly, that it would do so for the runtime. I can't imagine MS writing a whole separate runtime each time they come out with a service pack. I would also think that there's got to be a few people in the world that have distributed runtimes that now have the SP1 installed. And if so, there'd have been reports that it doesn't apply to Runtimes.

It would be interesting to know if the OPs users also have other Office 2007 components like Word or Excel. If so, they should be able to open it up and see what version of office/SP they have.

It it says Office 2007, SP1 then there really wouldn't be anything to update. But if it doesn't fix/excludes the A2007 Runtime then that would be bizarre.

Maybe the OP should create another thread with a subject line "Can't get Office 2007 SP1 to work with runtime" or something like that. Maybe others have found a solution. Either that or MS forgot about runtimes or used runtimes as a teaser.

Your suggestion was my first "solution". I should have mentioned it in
my first post.
However when I tried to install SP1 on the machines with Access
runtime installed, I received the message that "there is nothing to
update on this computer".
That's when I posted my problem.
Any other ideas?

Wouldn't your clients need to update their Service packs as well?

I have A2003 SP2 on my machine. My clients had SP1 for their runtime on
their machines. I had them DL the SP2 file (quite large I must say) and
install it on their individual machines. We're now all up to date. I
suppose the same would be for A2007 as well.
