I am trying to run a custom database written in Access 97 on a Win2003
server. I can open the database file and work with it but as soon as I
open it's splash screen, it bombs. This app runs fine on Win2000
Server.

Any ideas out there?

*****Back up the database.*****
Open the copy using the shift-click method to prevent code from
running.
Attempt to compact and repair.

If that fails re-open (using shift-click) and attempt to compile all
modules.
Check references and see that none are broken.
Start there and eliminate the easiest problems.

It had nothing to do with any of that but I did "stumble" onto the
solution. It has to do with Win2003 server security issue called "data
execution". I allowed this for msaccess and the database worked fine
after that.

thanks for your feedback.

I'm surprised you don't get a warning or something.- Hide quoted text -

yeah, I can't figgure that one out but I was logged into the server
for quite a while. I logged off and back on with a different username
and I got the warning then. My login gives me domain admin
rights...the second login is sysop.

There's another one to add to the 'deal with the easy fixes' list -
turn it off and on again.
Can't tell you how many times that one has worked.- Hide quoted text -

When a client asks "why is it taking so long" I generally reply...
"ask Bill Gates"! If it weren't for having to reboot so often when we
make some changes, the job would take half the time!
