Has anyone faced this before ? I'm sorry, I know I'm a little
off-topic here but since I've been posting to this group before & didnt
know where else to post, I'm taking a chance. If anyone would like to
direct me to another site, I'd be obliged.

I would talk to HP or the dealer. Some big companies set up their machines in weird ways - years ago when I got my first Dell, the win98 DOS prompt would not allow me to use the English character set - calling them, they explained this was how they "met" Canada's bilingual requirements, ie, by setting the DOS window to accept the french character set.

It was very easy to fix and doubtless your affliction will be too! 8)
