I have a database that is built in Access 97 that was perorming
quite well. After my company upgraded to SP2 it wreaked all kinds
of havock, and I spent weeks resolving all the issues. A form that
opnened in less than a minute would take up to twenty minutes.
I have several queries that contained two tables with a left outer
join. Before the upgrade the quries ran in seconds. After the
upgrade it took minutes for them to run. After changing the joins
to inner joins the queries again ran in seconds. I called
Microsoft Technical support to see if I could get an explanation
and was given a brush-off because Access 97 is no longer a
supported product.
Can anyone tell me why this would be? Thank you so much for any
assistance in this matter.
Why would anyone ever use an outer join in a situation where an
inner join would work?
I never saw any such problem with slowdowns for outer joins.
What version of Jet did you end up with?
