Re: Upgrading advise

If we move to access 2000, is it then easier to move to access 2003

Thanks

It is easy in that A2003 still supports the A2000 file format so in theory
the database will work with no modifications. I've only encountered a few
things that don't work but only to do with conditional formatting and ADPs.
Many of our clients that use our A2000 databases have since updated to
A2003.

If you are upgrading I'd go to A2003, not A2000 then A2003. Seems a waste of
money?

There's also a new version due out this year just to throw another spanner
in the works:)

Hi

I have an access 97 app which I have the option to upgrade to either
access 2000 or access 2003. Which one should I choose. I have heard
nasty things about access 2000.

Partly depends on why you want to upgrade.

A2000 has been pretty good IMO and a lot of people are still using
it... although many are migrating to 2003. We still develop
everything in A2000 because anyone with 2000/2002/2003 can use it
and we don't have to maintain different versions.

I've only found 2003 better when using an SQLServer backend but
that's only because SQLServer2000 came out after A2000.
