i had the latest MDAC installed in my machine and it works well but
before installing the latest version of MDAC it didn't connect and give
raise to the error as mentioned in the first message.

this is the first time it is happening to me. the problem is we don't
have administration rights to our machines in our office and also they
are reluctant to install the latest version of MDAC in all the machines
with user to this application. i did notice that the machines without
the latest version of MDAC (with the original image and windows 2000
pro) had older version of the MS SQL Server driver.

i am trying to find a way around to make the application connect
irrespective of SQL Server Driver or the MDAC version present. Think
you would understand my problems

thanx and would appreciate if u can throw some more light in this
issue. this is the first time i am facing this.
