Re: [Info-Ingres] Time to say goodbye to the 2k page size?

Good work Roy. Great opportunity for an enhancement from the
community. --Chip

Enhancement? Sounds like a bug fix to me, and <BEAT_DEAD_HORSE> I'd be
curious to know if said fix comes with a subscription for the Ingres
Corp. Certified Binaries or if the issue is present in that code base as
well.</BEAT_DEAD_HORSE>

The Linux Kernel has a project named "Kernel Janitors" where half-way
decent C programmers can do grunt coding under the informal guidance of
one of the core Kernel developers for a specific area, e.g. SCSI
subsystem. The idea is that it 1.) frees the "real" developers to focus
on progressive development, 2.) grooms interested and committed parties
in a particular area, or areas, of the Kernel, and 3.) enhances the
coding ability of the Janitor.

I think Ingres Corp., and the INGRES community, would receive a lot of
value from a similar format, however, it would require Ingres Corp. to
expose said bugs to the Janitors and then integrate the fixes into the
code base.

I tried to start this with the nycingres users group but it was
passively killed by Ingres Corp. Any chance we can call it forth from
the grave, not just for nycingres, but in-general?
